Introduction to Qualitative Research in Communication
Introduction to the qualitative tradition in communication research; the philosophical debates that led to the development of this tradition and to issues in research design and method.

The role of Ottawa-based institutions engaged in the development of communication and cultural policies, including public, private and third sector institutions such the CRTC, CBC, Rogers Media, the National Gallery, and the Media Awareness Network.

Communications Law I
A survey of laws that affect the Canadian media including the development of freedom of expression, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and statutory and common-law limitations on freedoms of the press, including publication bans, libel and contempt of court.

Honours Research Essay
The Honours Research Essay (HRE) provides eligible students with an opportunity to complete an independent research essay under the supervision of a faculty member. The HRE must be completed over two consecutive academic terms, beginning in the fall term.
