Regulations

Courses taken for the Certificate may be credited towards a Bachelor of Arts degree. A student transferring into a Bachelor of Arts program will normally be required to take at least 9.0 further credits. At least 5.0 of the credits required for the degree must be completed after the awarding of the Certificate.
Academic Standing
To qualify for the Certificate, the candidate must obtain a grade of C or higher in at least half of the credits taken at Carleton University for the certificate.
Admissions Information
Admission Requirements are for the 2017-2018 year only, and are based on the Ontario High School System. Holding the minimum admission requirements only establishes eligibility for consideration. The cut-off averages for admission may be considerably higher than the minimum. See also the General Admission and Procedures section of this Calendar. An overall average of at least 70% is normally required to be considered for admission. Some programs may also require specific course prerequisites and prerequisite averages and/or supplementary admission portfolios. Higher averages are required for admission to programs for which the demand for places by qualified applicants exceeds the number of places available. The overall average required for admission is determined each year on a program by program basis. Consult admissions.carleton.ca for further details.
Certificate
- Certificate in Public Service Studies
The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent including a minimum of six 4U or M courses. Special consideration will be extended to other applicants under Mature Applicant regulations (see Mature and Special Admissions, in the Admissions Regulations and Procedures section of this Calendar).
Candidates may be admitted with advanced standing, but must complete at least 4.0 credits at Carleton, including all required courses, to obtain the Certificate from Carleton University. Students who have completed an undergraduate degree are not eligible for admission to this program.
